Payroll services for small businesses: paychecks and taxes done right

We set up and run payroll in QuickBooks Online: we calculate pay and withholdings, pay payroll taxes and file reports with the IRS and your state. It also covers an S-corp owner's salary. From $150 a month.

What our payroll service includes

Pay calculations
Wages, withholdings and taxes for each employee every pay period.
IRS and state reports
Quarterly Form 941, annual Form 940 and state payroll returns.
Year-end W-2s
We prepare W-2s and send them to employees and the Social Security Administration.
Employer registration
We register you with the state for withholding and unemployment insurance.

Why payroll is better left to a professional

Payroll tax mistakes are the most expensive: the IRS charges penalties for every late deposit and report.

01

Many deadlines

Payroll taxes are deposited on a schedule, reports are due every quarter and at year-end — it is easy to miss one.

02

States add their own rules

Each state has its own taxes and unemployment insurance, and each requires registration.

03

Employee or contractor

Treating an employee as a 1099 contractor leads to back taxes and penalties.

04

S-corp owner salary

An S-corp owner must be paid through payroll — without it, the S-corp savings are at risk.

Payroll FAQ

Do I need payroll if it's just me?

If you have an S-corp — yes, the owner needs a salary through payroll. An LLC without S-corp status and without employees doesn't need payroll.

What's included in $150 a month?

Payroll for up to 3 employees, Forms 941 and 940, state reports and W-2s. Each additional employee is $20.

How do I pay a contractor instead of an employee?

The contractor fills out a W-9, and in January you file a 1099-NEC — $30 per form. We'll help you tell contractors from employees.

Do you work with businesses in other states?

Yes. Registration in each new state is $120, and each additional state is $50 a month.
